Ford has strategically utilized increased plant capacity, ongoing efforts to scale production and reduce costs, as well as favorable battery raw material costs to bring down the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the F-150 Lightning® for all customers.
The Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan is presently undergoing temporary closure to implement final plant upgrades aimed at tripling the plant's annual run rate, targeting an impressive 150,000 F-150 Lightning trucks to be produced starting this fall.
The combination of these plant upgrades, along with improved battery raw material costs and ongoing efforts to scale production and reduce costs, have made it feasible for Ford to lower pricing across the entire F-150 Lightning line. This means customers can expect their custom-built trucks to be available as early as October at an MSRP that aligns more closely with the initial Lightning pricing. Additionally, many dealerships will have stock and demo units readily available.
Marin Gjaja, Chief Customer Officer of Ford Model E, expressed, "Shortly after launching the F-150 Lightning, rapidly rising material costs, supply constraints, and other factors drove up the cost of the EV truck for Ford and our customers. We've continued to work in the background to improve accessibility and affordability to help lower prices for our customers and shorten the wait times for their new F-150 Lightning."
With ordering now open and increased inventory at dealerships, Canadian customers can reach out to their preferred Ford dealer to discuss purchase financing and lease options for the 2023 F-150 Lightning. Additionally, customers can take advantage of the BlueOval Charge Network, North America's largest public charging network, which will include access to over 12,000 Tesla Superchargers starting early next year. Commercial customers can also benefit from Ford Pro Charging solutions to keep their F-150 Lightning fully powered whether charging at home or on-site at work.
The F-150 Lightning has already received prestigious awards, including the 2023 MotorTrend Truck of the Year, North American Truck of the Year, and Guide de l'Auto Truck of the Year. With the reduced pricing, certain F-150 Lightning models may become eligible for federal and provincial incentives in Canada. Customers can visit relevant government websites to verify eligibility for electric vehicle rebates.
